It is with great pleasure that I announce my campaign for re-election to a fourth term as Benton County Judge. I have been honored to serve the people of Benton County for the last 5 years and look forward to another term in office.
I will continue to stress the spirit of trust, confidence and cooperation between all of the Elected Officials, Quorum Court and the Benton County Employees. I have consistently improved this effort and hold all of us accountable to the Benton County Taxpayers.
The responsibilities of the County Judge are extensive with a total budget of $27M in all departments under the Judge. They include the road department, building facilities/maintenance, accounting, information technology, human relations, 911/emergency management, planning & building division, environmental and juvenile detention center. I also hold court for county road cases, real estate assessment appeals, annexation requests and land locked property appeals. The Judge indirectly manages almost 200 employees in the eight departments of responsibility and must be well versed and experienced in many different subjects. I have assembled a fantastic team of Administrative Staff who consistently perform their jobs with excellence.
During my terms in office, we have taken the BC road department to new heights of quality and quantity of road construction performance. We have paved nearly 150 miles of county roads and constructed several bridges, most notably, the Fisher Ford Illinois bridge and the Colonel Meyers Osage Creek bridge. We have at least four new bridges soon to be under construction including Spavinaw Creek, Corinth and Spanker Creek and the historic War Eagle Bridge. I have extensive knowledge of how to work with engineers and correctly build roads and bridges.
I introduced and promoted long range planning for our county facilities to consolidate and modernize our buildings for continued use in operating county services. These plans are saving the taxpayers thousands of dollars in lease payments each year from when I first was elected. In addition to planning for growth of our facilities as the population increases, we must provide consistent maintenance, repairs and energy saving management for our buildings to protect the county investments.
My extensive 35 year background in construction management has served the county extremely well in managing the construction of the Decatur Road Facility, repurposing the Bogle Public Services building, the new Juvenile Justice Center, renovated Assessors Annex, Benton County Rogers Offices, Historic Courthouse renovations and many other county construction projects. My experience in construction is going to be a huge asset as we embark on the single largest project ever accomplished in Benton County, the new Benton County Justice Center.
I stand for quality constructed roads & bridges, well constructed & maintained facilities, improving employees qualifications & pay, long term planning and most of all listening to my constituents needs and acting on those requests.
Please support my re-election campaign by contributing your time and financial support. There will be political forums and meetings to promote voter awareness of issues facing the county and your support will be welcome.
